Overview

Uncles of Toronto brought me on to create a recap video for their rooftop event, JAPA — a vibrant celebration of Afrobeats, Amapiano, and AfroRnB culture. The goal was to capture the energy, community, and movement that define the UNCLES brand, and deliver a piece that would live well beyond the night itself.

Approach

With JAPA’s music-first identity and outdoor city backdrop, I leaned into the spontaneity of the crowd. The focus was on real moments: dancing, joy, and connection. I used fluid camera movement and natural light to preserve the energy of the space while keeping the visuals polished. The edit was paced to the rhythm of the music, with color treatment that emphasized warmth, motion, and saturation — a visual match to the sound.

The Result

The final cut served as a high-impact recap for UNCLES’ digital platforms — capturing not just attendance, but atmosphere. It reinforced their brand promise of “Always a Good Time,” helped build anticipation for future events, and contributed to ongoing community engagement across Instagram and beyond.
